27 Oct

Packing can be a nightmare when it comes to camping especially if you intend to go backpacking. You need to ensure that you got all the basic camping supplies you can carry because once you are out there you can only rely on what you have in your backpack. Anything else you need should be sourced through sheer ingenuity if at all possible.

Depending on the weather you are to expect at the camping site, a camping tent that is durable enough to withstand the outside elements is a must-have. A one season type of tent is just perfect for summer camping and it could provide you a good shelter from light rain showers. If the weather is more inclement it is best to equipped yourself with a two/three season tent or even a three/four season tent which are heavier but are able to withstand the elements and could also provide additional warmth on cold nights.

A good night sleep is much needed to help you keep up with all the activities that can be enjoyed while outdoors. So whether the camping tent has good floor padding or footprint to provide ample protection from the ground, a good size sleeping bag is a must have to keep you comfortable and warm while sleeping. Like the tent, it is one bulky camping gear you need to bring with you but a necessity if you like to have some comfort while camping.

Food and water are camping supply priorities when you plan to camp. How much and what kind depends on how long you intend to camp. Easy to cook meals, crackers, spreads, preserves are best for camping outdoors. If you intend to cook, you need to bring a portable stove and a couple of kitchen paraphernalia – a pot or pan, grill and knife are great cooking wares for camping and the smaller they are the better so that you can easily pack them along. Drinking water is a must as any water supply you may find would be safer to use for cooking and washing only.

First aid kit, flashlight, matches, map, radio, cell phone, and extra batteries are supplies that can help ensure a safe and successful camping trip. You need to make sure that medicines are not expired and you got bandages, cotton, gauze strips, disinfectant, and insect repellants in your kit. Flashlights are important as you may need to navigate around in the dark and matches are perfect starting a campfire. For emergencies, it is always best to bring your cell phone and a radio would be a source of information for any change in weather condition or the like.

You need to bring just enough clothing and toiletries for your camping trip. Checking on each item before packing them is a sure way to ensure that what you have are in good condition and the same goes with your camping tent as you do not want to forget any accessory and unable to set it up. Comfort and privacy are just some of the luxuries you must forgo when camping but the little you can have can still be enjoyed if you have the right camping supplies with you.
